Obituary of Nelly Faustin
June 22, 2022
Nelly Faustin was born on July 23rd, in Cap Haitian, Haiti the third of seven children of Passionne Faustin. Throughout her childhood, she attended various schools such as École Des Sœurs Saint Joseph de Cluny, College Pratique du Nord and Lycée Philippe Guerrier.
While growing up in Cap-Haitian, Nelly made lifelong friends from her neighborhood and her job at the civil engineering company, Poté Colé.
In the 70s, she was determined to go North like the rest of the family, and made a fresh start in Montreal, Canada. There, Nelly studied nursing , became a nurse and worked in that field for many years.
In the mid 80s, Nelly desired to be closer to her sisters and moved to New York where she lived in Stuyvesant Town until her passing. For twenty- two years, Nelly has been an active parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church where she volunteered her time as eucharistic minister, and had various roles throughout the church.
Nelly was nicknamed the "Walking Miracle" as she was the living testament of God's grace. Nelly survived two brain tumor removals and managed to be self-sufficient. She will always be remembered for her love of family, cuisine, clothes, travel, serving Immaculate Conception Church, and most importantly, her love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her sisters Nicole, Georgette, Ivrose, Junie, her brother Serge, brothers-in-law Jean- Claude and Bamba, her sister-in-law, Mirlande, cousins, a host of nieces and nephews, and 5 godchildren.
Our beloved sister, aunt, cousin and godmother, was called by the Most High on June 22nd, 2022. May The Kingdom of Heaven receive her with open arms.
