Obituary of Dolores Diamond

May 19, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved mother/sister/aunt Dolores M. Diamond (82) of Manhattan, passed away at Lenox Hill Hospital on May 19, 2024.

Dolores was born to George and Anna Maksutian on September 10, 1941 in New York City, New York. She attended Immaculata High School and worked at ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers) for many years before working at home to raise her children.

Dolores was a life-long New Yorker and instilled her love of the New York arts and culture scene in her children. She was the family organizer for frequent trips to museum and gallery exhibits and had a great love for musical theater and the ballet. Dolores was a resident of Stuyvesant Town for nearly sixty years and always enjoyed her conversations with friends and neighbors.

Dolores was predeceased in December 2017 by her husband of fifty-five years, James W. Diamond. Dolores is survived by her two children, Elissa Diamond and Claudia-Diamond Ruth, their spouses Rachel Rabinowitz and Richard Ruth, and her sister Kathleen Wharton, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, along with one niece, two nephews and many great-nieces.
