Obituary of Jerome Lavin
January 24, 2025
Jerome M Lavin January 24, 2025
Jerome M Lavin, otherwise known as Jerry Lavin, Jerry New York, died peacefully on January 24, 2025.
Jerry was born in New York City and was a true quintessential New Yorker, never leaving the borough of Manhattan.
He loved New York City and mourned the relocation of his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers. He was known as a fountain of knowledge, especially pertaining to NYC and baseball, and was not “shy to gently correct” anyone who may not have had the “right facts” on either subject.
Jerry enjoyed a cold beer and good conversation with his friends at his favorite neighborhood pub, Molly’s Shebeen, where he was a local icon for many years.
Jerry loved walking, especially with his beloved wife Judith Morse by his side. Together they would spend hours exploring different neighborhoods and discovering new restaurants and things to do.
Jerry was a proud Irish Catholic, devoted husband and family man.
He never missed a family event when he was able to attend, and was generous to all, especially his family.
He is predeceased by parents Floss and Jim Lavin, older sisters Flory and Jane, younger brother Jack and baby sister Jill.
Funeral mass will be Saturday February 8th @ 11am at his beloved parish Church of the Epiphany, Gramercy Park, NYC.
Donations to Little Sisters of the Poor would be appreciated in Jerry’s name.
Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and friends. It is an end of an era.
