I remember Joan as the leader of our Sunday School programa at Holy Name of Jesus parish. In the 1980s, she recruited me to teach second graders, preparing them to receive the sacrament of First Holy Communion, which I did for many years. I loved it. Her splendid example, seriousness of purpose, and devotion to the parish were inspiring. May she rest in peace.
